Saurav 'Lightning' Ganguly strikes

India skipper Saurav Ganguly cracked a quickfire unbeaten century, off 108 balls with two sixes and two fours, for Lancashire Lightning against Gladiators, to help his side to a ten-wicket victory.

Lancashire will now move into the NatWest semifinal, to be played at Bristol on Sunday.

Ganguly began cautiously, but soon accelerated with strokes all round the wicket.

The innings helped Lancashire erase memories of the debacle two days earlier, when they were shot out for 68. At that time, the side was facing relegation to division two -- now, captain John Crawley is talking of the possibility of Lancashire taking the field at Lord's for the final.

If that happens, it will be a big day for Ganguly, Lancashire's batting spearhead this season. For it was at Lord's that he burst onto the international scene with a century on debut.
