Asian nations won't boycott ICC Cup

The International Cricket Council has assured the four Asian full members orally of 50 per cent share from its Cricket Development Fund, a Board of Control for Cricket in India source said on Monday.

"We (the boards of India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh) had demanded half the share from the fund and they (ICC) have orally acceded to it. We are only awaiting a formal letter of approval," the source said.

The source was reacting to a report on a cricket web site that the four Asian Test-playing countries have decided to boycott the October 3-15 ICC Knock-out Cup at Nairobi as the world governing body has not yet replied to their demand.

"We are the driving force for the generation of this fund and were getting only 30 per cent from it while the others are getting 70 per cent. That is why we had demanded 50 per cent share," he explained.

"Without the four Asian countries the ICC tournament would lose its lustre. But we are sure the matter would be resolved soon," he added.
