India to play inaugural Bangla Test

India on Friday accepted an invitation to play in Bangladesh's first Test match in November, Indian cricket chief A.C. Muthiah said here.

The dates for the one-off Test at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Bangladesh's capital city of Dhaka will be finalised shortly, Muthiah said.

But he indicated it would probably take place in the first week of November, just before Zimbabwe commence a three-Test tour of India.

"It's an honour to take part in a historic moment for Bangladesh's cricket," Muthiah said.

Bangladesh, which was granted Test status in June, invited India for the inaugural match after England pulled out citing other commitments.

India, however, have refused Bangladesh's offer to take part in a triangular one-day series soon after the inaugural Test, Muthiah said.
