Surti is CBFS beneficiary

Former Test all-rounder Rusi Surti is one of the beneficiaries of the triangular Coca Cola Cup, to be organised by the Cricketers Benefit Fund Series in Sharjah from October 20-29, and not Bishen Singh Bedi, the Board of Control for a Cricket in India clarified on Wednesday.

Dismissing a media report that Bedi is one of the beneficiaries for the coming series, BCCI's executive secretary Sharad Diwadkar, in a statement, said the ace left-arm spinner had already been felicitated by the Sharjah organisers with a purse in 1984.

He also clarified that the benefit amount is US $35,000 each and not US $15,000 as mentioned in the report.

Surti, who migrated to Australia after his playing days, and two other former Test stars - Dilip Sardesai and Navjot Singh Sidhu, will be felicitated during the forthcoming tri-series featuring India, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, he added.
