Sinclair scintillates for Kiwis

Matthew Sinclair stroked the highest Test score by a New Zealander against South Africa -- 150 -- on the second day of the second Test on Friday.

At the close South Africa were 123 for three, 175 runs behind the touring side's first innings of 298.

New Zealand, who resumed on 276 for eight, were dismissed in the sixth over after lunch. The innings was anchored by Sinclair whose 150 was scored in 6-1/4 hours, came off 321 balls and included 23 fours and a six.

South African fast bowlers Shane Pollock and Allan Donald took four for 64 and four for 69 respectively.

Sinclair and Shayne O'Connor, who scored 20 in two hours, shared a stand of 73 - one short of the record New Zealand eighth-wicket partnership against South Africa.

Boeta Dippenaar and Gary Kirsten put on 81 runs for the first South African wicket, with Kirsten third out for 49 when he was caught behind by wicketkeeper Adam Parore off fast bowler Kerry Walmsley. Dippenaar scored 35.
