NZ beat India at women's World Cup

New Zealand beat India by 73 runs in Christchurch to secure sole second position in the women's World Cup tournament, behind Australia.

Australia leads the competition with eight points from four wins out of four matches, followed by New Zealand on eight points from four wins in five matches. India and South Africa each have six points from three wins.

It was India's second defeat following the loss to Australia.

If the 11 remaining pool matches go with form, these four teams will go through to the semi-finals although England, with two wins from four matches, have a slim chance of making the play-offs.

Scores:

New Zealand 224/5 (Anna O'Leary 89, Debbie Hockley 53, Haidee Tiffen 50 not out, Sunita Kanojia 2-27) beat India 151/7 (Chanderkanta Kaul 59 not out, Neetu David 22 not out, Tiffen 2-23).
