We enjoyed playing in India: Streak

Zimbabwe cricket captain Heath Streak on Thursday said his team enjoyed playing in India but conceded "we have to work hard in future to face competition".

He was speaking to reporters in Bombay after the team's arrival from Rajkot, where Zimbabwe lost the final one-day international as well as the series 1-4. Earlier, they also lost Test series 0-1.

"We could have won the one-day series but we lacked in our efforts. I must say that Indians played well and they deserved the win," Streak added.

Speaking about the Tests, he said: "In Test matches it was the rich Indian experience which cost us dear. Javagal Srinath bowled well and the Indian top order batted extraordinarily."

In the one-dayers, he said, it was Sachin Tendulkar and Ajit Agarkar who played well.

About the performance of youngsters of his team, Streak said, "Travis Friend and Trevor Madondo are good prospects for us and I hope that they will perform much better for Zimbabwe in future."

Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, however, was in no mood to speak to reporters.

Obviously pleased with the team's performance, Indian team coach John Wright said: "The team is playing good cricket and I hope they will continue in the same fashion in the coming home series against Australia."
