Boje hits 100 from 89 balls

The first one-day international between New Zealand and South Africa in Potchefstroom was abandoned on Friday with South Africa on 191 for two wickets when rain bucketed down for the second time.

After a first delay of 1hr 15mins, play resumed and pinch-hitter Nicky Boje reached his 100 from just 89 balls (11x4). But the heavens opened a second time and the players had to return to the pavilion -- with the hosts on 191 for two wickets.

Unbeaten were Boje on 105 (93 balls) and Jacques Kallis on eight.

New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming sent South Africa in on a good pitch, citing the possibility of a thunderstorm or dew affecting the side fielding second in the day-night game.

The match started with heavy thunderclouds in the vicinity but the skies had brightened shortly before heavy rain, followed by hail, started to fall.
