Muthiah re-elected BCCI president

A C Muthiah, J Y Lele and Kishore Rungta were re-elected president, secretary and treasurer respectively of the Board of Control for Cricket in India at its 71st Annual General Body meeting in Madras on Friday.

Joint secretary Jyoti Bajpai was also re-elected.

For the vice-president's post, Narhari Amin (West Zone) replaced Manohar Joshi, Union Minister and president of the Mumbai Cricket Association, while Dr Prabhat Kumar Mishra took the place of A N Singh (East Zone).

C K Khanna (North Zone), Kamal Morarka (Central Zone) and K M Ramprasad (South Zone) retained their posts as vice-presidents.

In the national senior selection committee, Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association secretary Sanjay Jagdale replaced Anil Deshpande (Central Zone) while Chandu Borde (chairman - West Zone), Madanlal Sharma (North), Ashok Malhotra (East) and T A Sekhar (South) retained their posts.

Foreign coach: Four foreign coaches have submitted offer letters which are under consideration. They are Dean Jones (Australia), John Wright (New Zealand), Andy Roberts (West Indies) and Geoff Marsh (Australia). One of them will be selected to take charge of the Indian team. He will be assisted by an Indian coach. Till then, Anshuman Gaekwad will be coach of the teams for the tours of Kenya, Sharjah and one-off Test in Bangladesh.

National Cricket Academy: Tamilnadu and Karnataka have offered the BCCI 50 acres of land to set up its academy. The board is considering the offer.

Code of Conduct: Amendments have been made in the code and it will be implemented shortly.

Pakistan tour: The board will abide with whatever decision the government takes on the matter.
