Bangladesh win tour opener

Bangladesh began their Zimbabwe tour on a winning note, beating Zimbabwe Academy XI by seven wickets in their tour opener, at Harare, on Wednesday.

Put in to bat, the Academy boys were all out for a paltry 183, off 48.5 overs. Bangladesh medium pacer Mohammad Sharif, who claimed five wickets for 30 runs, and off-spinner Naimur Rehman, who grabbed three quick wickets for figures of 3 for 45, were responsible for the damage.

In reply, Bangladesh, helped by a breezy 79 off only 77 balls by Habibul Bashar, rattled off the required runs, scoring 184 for 7 in 32.2 overs.

Openers Javed Omar (35) and Al Sahariar Rokon (28) put the tourists on the road to victory.
