Australian player fails drug test

A Western Australian state cricketer has failed a drug test and will face an independent tribunal in Melbourne, Australian Broadcasting Corporation Radio reported on Wednesday.

The report said it was understood the player was not a member of the Australian Test or one-day squads.

Australian Cricket Board public affairs general manager Brendan McClements could not be contacted for comment.

ABC Radio said the ACB could not confirm or deny any positive drug test under its anti-doping rules where a player faces a possible two-year ban for using performance-enhancing drugs.
