ACC to discuss Sharjah boycott

The special general meeting of the Asian Cricket Council, to be held in Lahore on May 25, will discuss the Indian government's decision not to allow its team to participate in Sharjah tournaments for the next three years.

The ACC is also likely to give final approval for the next edition of the Asian Test Championship, to be played between September 2001-February 2002, as also the Asia Cup to be held in Pakistan in September next year.

The Test championship matches will be played in Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, with the last named country hosting the final.

The ACC is also expected to approve a development programme for the game in the sub-continent, and its administrative structuring. The blueprint was prepared by the ACC's development committee at a meeting in Kolkatta last month.

The meeting, postponed from the earlier date of April 15, will be chaired by Pakistan Cricket Board president Tauqir Zia.

Chairman of the ACC Jagmohan Dalmiya, and BCCI president Dr A C Muthiah, will be among the prominent Indian officials participating in the meeting.
