Windies rise to fourth in ICC test table

West Indies have climbed to joint-fourth place on the latest International Cricket Council Test championship table following their 1-0 Test series triumph against Zimbabwe.

The West Indians, who hammered Zimbabwe by an innings and 176 runs in the first Test of two in Bulawayo, have drawn level with Sri Lanka on 13 points from 13 series at an average of 1.00.

Carl Hooper's team have overtaken fifth-placed New Zealand, whose average remains at 0.93 after gathering 14 points from 15 series.

The ICC championship was introduced before the two Tests between England and Pakistan in May of this year to add interest and context to the game at the highest level.

The rankings will be updated after each series victory around the world and the trophy will be handed on from one country to the next when a nation loses the top spot.
