Tendulkar ruled out for Lanka series

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has been ruled out for the three-match Test series with the Sri Lankans after a bone scan of his right toe revealed that the injury has not fully healed.

Confirming this news, leading radiologist Dr. Bhujang Pai said that Sachin Tendulkar, who had earlier missed the triangular series in Sri Lanka, will not be able to play the Test matches as he has not fully recovered.

Tendulkar will inform the board of his unavailibility on Friday.

He hurt his toe while playing in the triangular one-day series in Zimbabwe, during the last league match against the West Indies on July 4, and subsequently missed the triangular series in Lanka -- also involving New Zealand -- which was won by the home side.

The bone scan was performed at the Hinduja hospital and research centre in Mumbai late on Thursday, Dr. Pai said.

Jacob Martin will replace him in the Indian squad.
