BCCI wary about Laloo's participation
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has sought legal opinion on former Bihar chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav's participation in its Annual General Meeting following a
dispute in the state unit.
The board's decision follows a letter from Sanjay Singh
claiming he is the genuine representative of the Bihar
Cricket Association, according to BCCI sources.
The Working Committee of the BCCI, which met in Bombay on
Saturday, dealt with problems in two other state associations -- Goa and Jammu and Kashmir.
It directed its executive secretary, Sharad Diwadkar, to
proceed to Goa and make an on-the-spot study whether a unit
still exists in view of the arrest and court cases against the
office-bearers, following the fiasco of sale of bogus tickets
during the India-Australia match. There are three different
persons staking claim to being the secretary of the Goa
Cricket Association, the sources said.
The board is also trying to tackle the problem of two
groups in Jammu and Kashmir, where one group has obtained a
stay from a court in Jammu against the other.
The board's AGM is scheduled to take place on September 30
either in New Delhi or Madras.
