Haryana beat Delhi by 71 runs

A skipper's knock of 73 not out by Ajay Ratra helped Haryana defeat Delhi by 71 runs in their North Zone Ranji Trophy one-day match at the Dhruv Pandove stadium in Patiala on Monday.

Electing to bat, Haryana scored 217 for nine in 50 overs and dismissed Delhi 146 in 40.3 overs.

The Delhi batsmen found the bowling trio of Amit Mishra (3/21), Sumeet Narwal (2/42) and Joginder Sharma (2/38) too hot to handle.

Haryana lost the wicket of Chetan Sharma (1) with the total reading only four. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals, but the scoreboard also kept moving.

Ratra got his 73 off 80 balls with three fours. Shafiq Khan (42, 46b, 4x3) and Parinder Sharm (35, 58b, 4x2, 6x1) were the other key scorers.

Amit Bhandari (4/45) and Mithun Minhas (2/22) were the successful bowlers.

While other Delhi batsmen failed, Minhas was the top scorer with 41 (43b, 4x5).
