Name: Yogesh Kalantre
Query: Name the players in test cricket history who achieved the featof 10 wickets in a test and a century in a single test match? Name the players who have at least one 10 wicket haul in a test match and at least one century in their career? Name the players who have taken 5 wickets in an innings and a century in the same test match?

Mohandas Menon:
Only two players have the distinction of scoring a hundred in an innings and capturing 10 or more wickets in the same Test match. And interestingly both these instances have come against India --

a. England's Ian Botham (114 and 6-58 & 7-48) at Mumbai, 1979-80 and Pakistan's Imran Khan (117 and 6-98 & 5-82) at Faisalabad, 1982-83.

b. As regards to your second part of the question there are several instances to players scoring a hundred and taking 10 wickets during their Test career.

c. There have been 25 instances of players scoring a century and taking a five wicket haul in the same Test innings, with England's Ian Botham doing so on five separate occasions.

Name: KARTHIK DAS MANNIL
Query: What is the highest ever one day international score made by a team batting first and also the highest score chased by a team batting second? thanks karthik.

Mohandas Menon:
The highest ever team score made in ODIs remains as the 398-5 in 50 overs by Sri Lanka while batting first against Kenya at Kandy on 6-3-1996 (in the 1996 World Cup), while the highest score chased by a team batting second - will obviously be the above score. Kenya had to chase 399 in 50 overs to win the match (they made 254-7)

Australian Jeff Thomson was clocked 99 mph (or 158.4 kmph) sometime in the late seventies. However in the recent times Pakistani Shoaib Akhtar and Australian Brett Lee were consistently clocking speeds between 152 to 155 kmph.

Query: I feel any Indian debutant playing against Pakistan turns out to be all-time great player. Kapil & Sachin to name one or two. Am I correct? How many great Indian player's started their career playing against Pakistan?

Mohandas Menon:
I am afraid this is not true, although you did rightly mentioned Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar. Some of other players (though not great) who made their Test debut against Pakistan were: Roger Binny, Maninder Singh, Sandeep Patil, Chetan Sharma, Rusi Surti and Naren Tamhane. But none of them have made a big impact as Kapil and Tendulkar.

Query: "How many times as a batsman been run-out in test cricket, and ODI,after the fielder has kicked the ball on to the stumps" - Who were the fielders and batsman

Mohandas Menon:
There have been several instances of fielders kicking the ball on to the stumps to run-out a batsman in international cricket. However the most famous run-out came at the Oval on the second day (19 August 1946) of the third Test match between England and India. England batsman Dennis Compton (who also played soccer for the English club - Arsenal) ran out Indian opener Vijay Merchant (128) while kicking the ball from mid-on into the stumps.
