New Zealand beat Pak to level series

Chris Harris broke Richard Hadlee's one-day bowling record as New Zealand beat Pakistan by six wickets in their second one-day match on Tuesday to level the series at 1-1.

New Zealand's Daryl Tuffey won the man-of-the-match award by taking four for 24, while Harris broke Hadlee's New Zealand one-day international record of 158 wickets when he had Shahid Afridi caught by Nathan Astle at point.

Pakistan were all out for 135 on the last ball of their 50th over and New Zealand surpassed them on the third ball of the 31st over when their total reached 136 for four.

New Zealand had a bad start, losing Adam Parore in Wasim Akram's first over of the innings.

But Stephen Fleming and Nathan Astle put on 50 runs in just 55 balls before Astle was caught by Inzamam-ul-Haq for 20 off Akram, Pakistan's most effective bowler.

Roger Twose went cheaply and then Fleming was well caught by Yousuf Youhana at square leg for 28 off Waqar Younis as New Zealand went through a jittery period.

Craig McMillan and Lou Vincent, playing in his fifth match, came together at 74 for four and took New Zealand home with an undefeated partnership of 62.

Pakistan never got going after losing Saeed Anwar on the first ball of the innings but Abdur Razzaq batted well for 50 and Younis fought a good rearguard action with Saqlain Mushtaq to finish on 22 not out.
