No target. Just get them: Srinath
India's bowling mainstay Javagal Srinath on Sunday said he had not set any targets for scalping the mighty Australian batsmen as he believed every wicket was important.
"We don't set any target as such. For me every wicket is important. All the batsmen from number one to 11 are important for us," he said ahead of the crucial first Test against Australia on February 27.
The paceman, in Bombay along with Rahul Dravid, also downplayed the need for preparing tailor-made pitches for either pace or spin bowling stressing that it was for the bowler to seize the initiative on any kind of wicket.
"We should play on whatever tracks we are given," the paceman told reporters.
"I have got some wickets on these tracks and Kapil Dev has bowled for years on these tracks and got wickets. It is a question of how you bowl. Our wickets can also help the pacers, provided they know how to bowl," he said.
On non-availability of Anil Kumble, who is nursing an injury, Srinath said, "We will definitely miss Anil badly as he has been our mainstay for past many years. But we have
drawn some strategies and the bowlers will stick to it."
Commenting on India's poor performance Down Under and against South Africans last year, the bowler said, "We were under some tension when we came from Australia last year because we had lost three games and we had little time to prepare against the South Africans.
"But this time it is a different scenario altogether. We had a good series against Zimbabwe and then we had good camp. This preparation should do a lot of good for us," he added.
