India drop Zaheer, blood Sanghvi; Australia drop Miller

Australia won the toss and elected to field in the first Test match against India at the Wankhede stadium in Bombay on Tuesday.

India left leg-spinner Narendra Hirwani, left-arm fast bowler Zaheer Khan and middle order batsman Hemang Badani out of the playing eleven while the Australians dropped off-spinner Colin Miller, medium pacer Michael Kasprowicz and batsman Damien Martyn.

The teams:

India: Saurav Chandi Ganguly (c), Sadagoppan Ramesh, Shib Sunder Das, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Vangipurappu Venkata Sai Laxman, Javagal Srinath, Ajit Agarkar, Rahul Sanghvi, Harbhajan Singh and Nayan Mongia (wk).
Twelfth man: Hemang Badani

Australia: Stephen Waugh (c), Mark Waugh, Adam Gilchrist (wk), Damien Fleming, Jason Gillespie, Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer, Glen McGrath, Ricky Ponting, Michael Slater and Shane Warne.
