Bindra to appear before BCCI committee

Former Board of Control for Cricket in India president I S Bindra will appear before the board's disciplinary committee in Madras on January 18 to explain his alleged criticism of the apex cricket body.

Bindra, who is the Punjab Cricket Association president, on Thursday said that he and PCA secretary M P Pandove had been asked to appear before the committee after the BCCI executive committee expressed dissatisfaction with their written replies to the show-cause notice served on them some time ago.

Asked if he would go to Madras, Bindra said: "Certainly, Pandove and I will appear before the committee and give our reply in addition to the written one which had been sent earlier.

"It would not be proper to make public the written reply to the show-cause notice."

Bindra reiterated that his statements were not against the board. "They were in fact in favour of the board and aimed at further improving the game," he said.

"Whatever we said has been vindicated by CBI inquiry into the television rights irregularities," he said.
