Uncapped Kemp in SA one-day squad

South Africa have included uncapped Eastern Province all-rounder Justin Kemp in a squad of 14 named for the four remaining one-day internationals against Sri Lanka.

Opener Herschelle Gibbs, already back in the Test side following the completion of his ban, returned to limited overs reckoning.

Convenor of selectors Rushdie Magiet said the recall of Gibbs was a foregone conclusion.

"There was absolutely no question about it," Magiet said. "We were unanimous about selecting him. He's scored 190 (for Western Province) in recent limited-overs games and we had to include him."

Kemp's selection was made with an eye on the future.

"We need to blood an all-rounder," Magiet said. "In the event that anything happens to one of our current all-rounders, we need to be able to bring in someone with experience. We don't want to get the next World Cup (in South Africa in 2003) and be caught out like that."

South Africa lead the series 2-0.
