Former Goa Deputy Chief Minister and Goa Cricket Association president Dayanand Narvekar was on Tuesday remanded to police custody for a day.
He was arrested on Monday afternoon in connection with the bogus ticket scam in the one-day international between India and Australia, at Goa, on April 6.
While remanding him to police custody, the Margao Judicial Majistrate First Class rejected Narvekar's
plea to grant him bail.
The police have named him as the mastermind behind the scam, in which bogus tickets worth Rs 10 million were printed and sold.
Presently, however, Narvekar has been hospitalised in a district hospital
in Margao after he complained of a severe chest pain on Monday night.
The court agreed to remand him as the Margao police pressed for custodial
interrogation. He will be produced in court on Wednesday again.
Meanwhile, GCA secretary Vinod Phadke is still evading arrest.
The state police arrested nine persons till date, including
GCA treasurer Rama Shankardas, Narvekar's close accomplice, and ticket
contractor Chinmay Fallari. All of them, however, were subsequently released on bail.
