Windies laughing stock: Greenidge

The West Indies will be the laughing stock of world cricket as long as they do not centralise their development programmes, former Test batsman Gordon Greenidge said.

"You've got to have a programme for all the territories where everyone is singing from the same hymn book or else West Indies cricket will continue to be laughed at, as is being done at the moment," the Barbadian said.

"It seems that everybody coming into the West Indies team has a different view," Greenidge, batting coach for the squad preparing for the forthcoming tour of Zimbabwe and Kenya, told Radio 104 on Friday.

"Nobody is in harmony with each other. So it makes it difficult."

Greenidge, regarded as one of the greatest opening batsmen in Test cricket history, said the team needed stability to overcome a long slump.

"What they need to do is pick their best players and stick with them. Many people feel they can do a better job than the present selectors but when in their shoes it's a different situation," he said.
