Team for Lanka tour on July 9 or 10

The selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India will meet in Bombay soon after the team returns from Zimbabwe, to pick the squad for the Sri Lanka tour, starting on July 17.

BCCI executive secretary Sharad Diwadkar said, in Bombay on Friday, the team is expected to return from Zimbabwe on July 8 after playing the final of the triangular one-day series the previous day.

"The selectors want to finalise the team for Sri Lanka when both the captain [Sourav Ganguly] and coach [John Wright] are here, and I think they [selectors] are planning to meet either on July 9 or 10," Diwadkar said.

The Indians are scheduled to leave for Colombo on July 15. They will play a warm-up one-day game the following day before the start of the triangular series, involving Sri Lanka and New Zealand, from July 18. The final is slated for August 4.

The Indians will also play three Tests after a three-day side game from August 8-10. The three Tests will be played at Galle (August 13-17), Kandy (August 21-25) and at the SSC, Colombo (August 29-September 2). The team returns on September 3.
