Team for third Test on Thursday

The Indian team for the third Test against Australia, at Madras, from March 18 to 22, will be announced on Thursday.

The selectors, who were to meet in Calcutta on Wednesday, deferred their meeting by a day. They apparently wanted to see the fifth day's play after the Indians staged a remarkable fightback, thanks mainly to a record 357-run unfinished fifth wicket partnership between V V S Laxman and Rahul Dravid.

"The selectors will meet tomorrow [Thursday] and finalise the team for the third Test. We will announce it tomorrow," BCCI secretary J Y Lele told reporters.

The team was originally scheduled to be announced after the third day's play, but the selectors, after watching the dogged knocks of Laxman and Dravid, chose to defer it to the fourth day.
