Jadeja ties the knot

Former India allrounder Ajay Jadeja on Friday began a new innings in life after tying the knot with his childhood sweetheart Aditi Jaitly, daughter of politician Jaya Jaitly.

Banned from playing cricket for five years, the popular cricketer was attired in white achkan and red headgear, in traditional Rajasthani style.

The marriage was solemnized at Kashmir House, in Delhi, at 2030 hours.

A host of leaders including Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, Minister of State for Railways Digvijay Singh, cricketer turned politician Kirti Azad and Agriculture Minister with the additional charge of Railways Nitish Kumar attended the marriage, which was solemnized away from the media glare.

Popular cine artiste Madhuri Dixit and classical dancer Sonal Mansingh were also sighted among the luminaries.

Aditi, daughter of former Samata Party president Jaya Jaitly and Ashok Jaitly, Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, had been running Jadeja's business for some time. The cricketer's former teammate Nikhil Chopra also attended the wedding.

Jadeja's other friends in the national team missed the occasion as they are in Indore for the third one-day international against Australia, which will be played on Saturday.

At least 36 rooms of Kashmir House, situated at Kautilya Marg, Chanakyapuri, have been reserved for the groom's relatives and friends since March 27, according to sources.
