Hayden, McGrath to rest for Indore ODI

Faisal Shariff

The Australia cricket team management, at a press conference on Friday morning, announced that Mathew Hayden, Shane Lee and Glenn McGrath will be rested for the Indore one-day match, on Saturday.

The decision is said to be part of the team's rotation policy.

Mark Waugh, who sustained an injury during the second ODI in Pune, will also miss the match.

Addressing newsmen at Indore, vice-captain Adam Gilchrist sounded optimistic of his team's chances in the third one-dayer and said he is most likely to open the innings.

He reiterated that the decision to rest Hayden is not to prove that Australia can beat India without the in-form opener but in keeping with the team's rotation policy.

Commenting on the Indore wicket, he said it is a typical one-day track and would be good to bat on.
