Pakistan bowl out Derbyshire for 166

Off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq took six for 34 as Pakistan bowled out Derbyshire for 166 by tea on the first day of their three-day match against Derbyshire on Tuesday.

Pakistan were four for no wicket in reply when bad light stopped play for the second time in the day.

The tourists, who had pinned back Derbyshire to 91-3 at lunch, hotted up the pace in the second session in which Saqlain took five of his six wickets.

Shoaib Akhtar, a late arrival from Pakistan who only joined the rest of the squad 24 hours earlier, broke through straight after lunch.

He bowled the unlucky Matthew Dowman, who made the home side's best score of 36, off his inside edge and trapped Christopher Bassano lbw for 17.

Then Saqlain took centre stage. He had Karl Krikken caught behind for a duck before the players went off for bad light.

When they returned Saqlain had Nathan Dumelow caught at silly point when the score was 131.

Dominic Cork, batting at number six, had his long vigil ended when he was lbw for 27 made from 59 balls.

On the next ball, Thomas Lungley was deceived by one that went straight on and bowled him.

Lian Wharton survived a huge shout for a catch on the hat-trick ball before Saqlain wrapped the innings up by trapping him lbw.
