Laloo Yadav is new Bihar cricket boss

Laloo Prasad Yadav is the new boss of Bihar cricket.

A formal announcement will be made in Jamshedpur on May 20. However, with Laloo being the only candidate in the fray for the post of president of the Bihar Cricket Association, the election is very much a fait accompli.

Interestingly, Laloo Prasad's election will involve a clear contravention of the norm that only former or current office bearers of district cricket associations affiliated to the concerned state may contest. Laloo has not held any cricketing post in the past -- but that has not stopped him from filing his nomination. And the fact that he is contesting has kept every other candidate out of the fray.

Apparently signalling that he will not be a hands-on boss, Laloo has also nominated Abdul Bari Siddiqui, minister for commercial taxes in the state cabinet, for the post of working president.

There is, at present, no such post, or even a provision for it as per the rules.
