India to play one-day series in Australia

India will travel to Australia in September for three one-day matches with a reciprocal series to be hosted in India next year, an Indian cricket official said on Wednesday.

"We received an invitation from the Australian board last month. We have still not officially accepted, but putting it before the working committee is only a formality now," said Jaywant Lele, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Lele said India would play matches on September 10, 12 and 14, with two games at Melbourne's indoor Colonial Stadium and one in Brisbane.

"We asked them for a reciprocal series. They have agreed to come to India for three one-day matches sometime next year," Lele said.

The Melbourne stadium has a retractable roof and first hosted international cricket indoors last year when South Africa travelled to Australia for a one-day series.

Australia lost a test series 2-1 in India earlier this year but won the one-day series 3-2.
