Fitness tests for Lee, Gillespie

Australian fast bowlers Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie will undergo fitness assessments at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday afternoon, 19 May 2001.

Both players were chosen for either all or part of the Travelex Australian Tour of the UK 2001 after suffering injuries, and the work-out will be an opportunity for medical staff to check on their recovery.

Brett Lee Also present at the session, which should start at around 1pm and last for up to two hours, will be Australian team doctor Trefor James, physiotherapists Errol Alcott and Patrick Farhart, fitness adviser Jock Campbell and Chairman of Selectors Trevor Hohns.

Gillespie, who has been selected for both the one-day international and Test match sections of the three-month tour, has been recovering from a stress reaction in his left foot, suffered during the recent tour of India.

Lee, chosen for the five-match Ashes series that follows the one-day internationals, has been building back to full fitness after undergoing surgery on his right elbow which he injured during a Carlton Series match against Zimbabwe in Perth in early February.
