Walsh inducted into Caribbean Hall of Fame
Retired West Indies fast bowler Courtney Walsh was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Caribbean Development of the Arts and Culture Foundation (CDACF) on Friday.
At a ceremony held at Kings House, Jamaica's governor general, Sir Howard Cooke, presented a plaque to the world's leading test wicket-taker and praised his contribution to the region.
"At a time when people are looking and focusing on the darker things happening around us, you have been a shining light not only for Jamaica but for the West Indies at large," Cooke said.
"You have been a remarkable example to all young sportsmen, and your achievement will stand out as a beacon, showing them what can be achieved with discipline, focus, commitment and humility."
Walsh, who claimed a total of 519 test wickets for the West Indies, retired after the recent series against South Africa in the Caribbean.
