Rain prevents play on day 2

A persistent drizzle forced the second day's play in the three-day match between the visiting Indians and Zimbabwe 'A', at the Mutare Sports Club ground, to be abandoned on Tuesday.

Till about mid-day, the umpires were not able to make any inspection of the ground. Possibility of play appeared around noon but another shower washed away all chances of play resuming.

After a disastrous start, in which they lost the first five wickets for just 71 runs, the Indians rallied on Monday to declare their first innings at 336 for nine, thanks to a brilliant 137 by vice-captain Rahul Dravid and his 227-run sixth wicket partnership with Samir Dighe (87).

Replying, Zimbabwe 'A' were 34 for one at stumps.
