Ganguly becomes a father

Skipper Saurav Ganguly had two reasons to rejoice on Saturday as he became a father while his team took charge of the first test in South Africa.

Ganguly's wife Dona Ray delivered a girl in Calcutta in the evening, his father Chandidas said.

"Saurav was informed in South Africa and he is very happy. Both mother and child are in good health," he told Reuters.

The Ganguly's first child will be named only after six months, he said.

In Bloemfontein, Ganguly's side recovered from 68 for four wickets in the morning to reach 372 for seven at the close on the opening day of their three-test series.
