Rain washes out morning session in Kandy

Overnight rain prevented any play before lunch on the third day of the second Test between Sri Lanka and West Indies at the Asgiriya International Stadium on Friday.

Umpires John Hampshire and Gamini Silva were due to inspect the condition of the ground at 1230 local time.

Groundstaff took off the covers under bright sunshine, raising the prospects of play starting later in the day.

Sri Lanka will resume on 273 for eight in their first innings.

Sri Lanka lead the three-Test series 1-0.
