South Africa tour was tough: Wright

The Indian cricket team coach John Wright on Thursday night said his team's laTest tour of South Africa was a very tough one.

Speaking to reporters after the team's arrival in New Delhi, he said it was difficult for the Indians to adjust to South African conditions and he was happy for the support shown by cricket fans all over the world, when the chips were down.

"However, we are looking forward to the series against England, which will commence from December 3," Wright said.

Skipper Sourav Ganguly and batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar were whisked away from the airport, soon after the team landed.

Middle order batsman Virender Sehwag, who has been slapped one Test match ban by International Cricket Council, refused to speak to the press.

Wright, who was confident of his tenure as coach being extended by BCCI, said wicket keeper Deep Dasgupta's performance as opening batsman was a revelation for the side.

Talking to reporters, Dasgupta said that he was prepared to open the innings even in the future, if the team management wanted him to do so.

"I was absolutely under no pressure, when I opened the innings in the second Test against South Africa and I don't mind coming in at any order to help the team do better," Dasgupta said.
