Sri Lanka ready to play series in Pakistan

Sri Lanka has agreed to play a mini series in Pakistan this month, according to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Tauqir Zia.

"Sri Lanka has shown a great gesture by agreeing to play us a short series of one-day matches," SADA news agency quoted Zia as saying at Abbotabad.

Pakistan invited Sri Lanka to play a short limited over series after New Zealand cancelled its planned trip to Pakistan owing to security fears.

"PCB has lost around Rs. 900 million with the cancellation of the Test against India and the series against New Zealand," he said.

India refused to allow its team to cross the border and play the Asian Championship Test in Pakistan's eastern border city of Lahore last month.

The PCB chief clarified that the series against New Zealand could be rearranged in March-April next year.
