Scindia was a remarkable man: Gray

International Cricket Council president Malcolm Gray on Friday paid glowing tributes to former Board of Control for Cricket in India president Madhavrao Scindia, who died last week in an aeroplane crash.

He said Scindia was "a remarkable man with many talents".

Scindia was BCCI president from 1990 to 1993, during which period he served as India's director to the ICC executive board. His most significant achievement was to help win the 1996 World Cup for the Indian sub-continent. Later, he also served on the PILCOM organising committee for the tournament.

"I know from colleagues and friends in India that his tragic death at the age of just 56 has been a terrible blow to the worlds of cricket and politics in that country," Gray said.

He added: "He was clearly a remarkable man with many talents who achieved high office in both his chosen areas of professional and private interest during his lifetime."
