Lara passed fit to go on Sri Lanka tour

West Indies batsman Brian Lara is set to travel to Sri Lanka after he was passed fit for next month's tour following his recovery from a hamstring injury.

An MRI scan revealed that Lara had improved sufficiently and he could now go on tour.

"Having looked at the results, the doctors are satisfied," West Indies team manager Ricky Skerritt said on Sunday night.

"Over the last three days, Brian has been training rather actively and without any side effects," Skerritt said on the BBC's website.

Lara first injured his hamstring during last year's tour of England, but still played on tours in Australia and South Africa before withdrawing from recent trips to Kenya and Zimbabwe because of the problem.

The Sri Lankan tour begins on November 4.
