Decision on Dravid after detailed report

The BCCI will take a final decision on whether to play injured vice-captain Rahul Dravid in the coming Test series against South Africa after receiving a detailed medical report from the team management.

"We have been informed about Dravid's injury and we will take a decision only after receiving the details," BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya said in Calcutta on Wednesday.

Dalmiya said Dravid may undergo another check up and the board was expecting the detailed medical report within a day or two.

He said "the team management is consulting local doctors on Dravid's injury and once we get to know all the details, we will discuss the matter and take necessary decision".

Dr Joe de Beer, whom Dravid consulted in Cape Town diagnosed a ruptured shoulder cartilege and said the stylish batsman run the risk of aggravating the injury by playing in the Test series.

Dravid, who has since rejoined the team, is suffering from a similar injury that troubled South Arican left-arm spinner Nicky Boje and may need a surgery.
