NZ call off Pakistan tour
New Zealand cancelled their forthcoming three-Test tour of Pakistan on Thursday because of the U.S. terror attacks.
The players, currently in Singapore, were due to leave for Pakistan on Wednesday but postponed their flight in the wake of the terror attacks at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
The advice from security consultants and various governments was that all travel to Pakistan should be cancelled for seven days, NZ Cricket said in a statement.
The Pakistan Cricket Board had been advised of the decision but New Zealand could yet decide to go to Pakistan in October.
"We will re-visit the possibility of some cricket during October, should we be satisfied that the situation has stabilised," NZ Cricket chief executive Martin Snedden said.
The tour, due to start with a warm-up game in Karachi on Sunday, was scheduled to include three one-day internationals in September and three Tests in October.
NZ Cricket also withdrew the New Zealand 'A' side from a one-day tournament in Hyderabad, India.
