Agarkar replaces Nehra for South Africa

Ajit Agarkar was named as Ashish Nehra's replacement for the upcoming tour of South Africa. The selectors gave Agarkar the nod ahead of Debashish Mohanty and Rakesh Patel.

Later speaking to reporters, The selectors said that they were of the opinion that Agarkar would be more useful in South Africa than Mohanty or Rakesh Patel. The capabilities and the talent of Agarkar were known and after seeing him in action during the fitness test.

Ganguly was quick to mention that Agarkar was in the team solely as a bowler for the ODIs.

Ganguly further mentioned that ther tour of South Africa would not be easy. All international tours are tough and when you have to play top teams in their home conditions it is going to be tough.

The skipper also said that he thought that that Australia and South Africa are the two best teams in international cricket.

Replying to a query regarding the non-availability of Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra for the ODIs, Ganguly said that their services would be required in the Test matches and he would be glad to have them back.
