Dalmiya tells team to maintain consistency

Board of Control for Cricket in India president Jagmohan Dalmiya complimented the Indian team on its "splendid performance" in the second Test against the West Indies and urged it to maintain consistency in the next three Tests.

Terming Tuesday's long-awaited success at Port of Spain as "satisfying", Dalmiya said, "We had to wait for 26 years for a Test victory in the West Indies and it was the result of a brilliant team effort."

India won the second Test by 37 runs and went one up in the five-Test series. The first Test at Georgetown had ended in a draw.

Dalmiya, who spoke to the manager, coach and captain immediately after the historic victory, said, "I have told the boys that there should be no room for complacency. Consistency has to be maintained in the next three Tests."

The BCCI chief was all praise for the team effort shown, saying, "It was really satisfying to see the entire team displaying remarkable character and attitude."

He said even Anil Kumble, who was not in the team, "contributed in his own way by encouraging his colleagues and offering advice".

"It is always difficult for a senior player to find himself out of the playing eleven. But I must say Anil coped up with it rather well, with a positive frame of mind," he added.
