Tendulkar tops ODI ratings

India's Sachin Tendulkar has replaced Australia's Michael Bevan as number one in the world one-day international batting ratings.

Tendulkar, one of the biggest sports heroes in cricket-crazy India, scored 266 runs at an average of 53.20 in the recent six-match one-day series against England, during which he became the first man to score 11,000 one-day runs.

Bevan, who will play for English county Leicestershire this season, was in fine form in the triangular series in Australia, hitting 251 runs in six innings at an average of 50.20 and compiling an unbeaten 102 off 95 balls against New Zealand.

Former West Indies captain Brian Lara still tops the world Test ratings, despite missing the current series against Pakistan in Sharjah through injury.

Tendulkar is second while Matthew Hayden, named Australian cricketer of the year on Monday, has moved up a place to third.

Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan retained his place at the head of the world Test bowling ratings, but Australian paceman Glenn McGrath deposed the off-spinner as the world's top one-day bowler.
