Astle guides Kiwis to series-winning victory
An unbeaten 122 by Nathan Astle led New Zealand to victory by five wickets and earned a 3-2 one-day series win against England on Tuesday.
New Zealand were chasing the tourists' disappointing total of 218 from 50 overs and got home with seven balls to spare.
Astle, playing his 150th one-day international, posted a century partnership with Craig McMillan after New Zealand had slipped to 80 for three.
England battled hard and owed much to the parsimonious bowling of Craig White and Andy Flintoff but neither could stop Astle posting his 12th one-day century with a four through the covers.
When McMillan was lbw to Darren Gough and Chris Cairns fell for nought in the same over New Zealand were 180 for five. But Astle held firm with Lou Vincent to steer his side home with a winning six.
