Lanka thrash Zimbabwe to win third Test

Off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan took nine wickets in the match as Sri Lanka beat Zimbabwe by 315 runs on the fourth day of the third Test on Tuesday to sweep the series 3-0.

Muralitharan, 29, reached 400 wickets in record time when he took five for 67 in the Zimbabwe's first innings 236. He followed up with four for 24 in the tourists' paltry second innings 79.

Sri Lanka captain and part-time left-arm spinner Sanath Jayasuriya also took nine wickets in the match with five for 43 and four for 31.

Vice-captain Marvan Atapattu hit 100 not out, his ninth Test century, in Sri Lanka's second innings 212 for two declared.
