Youhana, Younis put Pakistan in charge

Centuries by Yousuf Youhana and Younis Khan have given Pakistan a 281-run first innings lead over Bangladesh on the second day of the second Test on Thursday.

Youhana was 174 not out while Younis made 119 as Pakistan were 429 for seven in reply to Bangladesh's 148 all out.

Youhana, who scored 72 in the first test in Dhaka, hit 31 fours and one six in 273 minutes.

He only gave one chance, when he was on 113, when Fahim Muntasir dropped a caught and bowled opportunity. Muntasir, whose first test wicket was that of Inzamam-ul-Haq (30) in the first session, finished the day with three wickets for 131.

Younis, who failed to score in the first test, hammered his fourth test century and combined in a 70-run fourth-wicket partnership with Youhana before being caught by Mehrab Hossain at mid-wicket off Muntasir on 236.

Pakistan added 136 runs after tea losing the wickets of Abdur Razzaq, who was bowled by Mohammad Shariff, and Waqar Younis, caught by Mehrab Hossain off Muntasir.

Bangladesh were bundled out for 148 in the first innings as Saqlain Mushtaq grabbed five for 35 and Danish Kaneria took four for 62.

Pakistan began the second day at 99 for one but lost Taufiq Umar, caught at slip by Aminul Islam off Mohammad Sharif for 47, in the second over of the day.

Bangladesh lost the first Test by an innings and 178 runs.
