Mumbai cricket gets a sponsor

The Mumbai Cricket Association has finally found a sponsor, which has the approval of master batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

A three-year sponsorship deal was inked with Royal Stag, through Bangalore-based firm Sporting Frontiers, informed MCA vice-president Pravin Barve.

The deal, worth approximately Rs 4.5 million, was finalised only after Tendulkar gave his approval.

This was necessary mainly because the previous contract with a pen-manufacturing firm had run into rough weather after the company had reportedly breached the contract in an advertisement, which did not go down well with Tendulkar.

Barve informed that he and MCA joint secretary Mayank Khandwalla personally discussed the sponsorship with Tendulkar before finalising it.
