Fletcher confirms official complaint lodged

England coach Duncan Fletcher today confirmed that his team had lodged an official complaint with match referee Dennis Lindsay following the controversial dismissal of Marcus Trescothick in the first one-day international game against India in Kolkata last evening.

An England and Wales Cricket Board spokesman said a letter had been written which "expressed our concern over the standard of umpiring in the match".

Chasing a total of 282, England were in hunt till Trescothick (121) was on the crease but collapsed to concede a 22-run victory to India.

England captain Nasser Hussain told Radio Five Live that he had asked the match referee to probe into two controversial leg before wicket decisions.

"I hope the ICC match referee has a look at things," Hussain said. "I'm tired of commenting on umpires decisions every other game.

"My team were certainly not the losers out there. Cricket lost out a little bit but certainly not my team," he said.

Hussain himself was adjudged lbw to Anil Kumble but it was the dismissal of centurion Trescothick that proved the turning point in the game.

Trescothick was given out for 121 to a delivery from Javagal Srinath that, replays showed, had pitched outside leg stump.
